In class, we got into pairs to conduct mock interviews. We would create the scenarios for the sorts of jobs we would apply for. In my case, this would be for social media marketing. The interviewer would then ask questions related to the subject, and the interviewee would treat it like a real interview and attempt it to the best of their ability.

My interviewer commented on how I knew what I was talking about in regards to marketing, and that I also had a genuine enthusiasm about me when I was answering the questions. I’ve learnt a lot of advice about public speaking, and how to bring this into an interview setting. These are techniques I have also taken into university interviews, and have certainly increased my chances of consideration.

A few areas of improvement include how long it takes me to answer questions. Sometimes my enthusiasm can cause me to go on and on when answering, so I’d say that keeping my responses more concise would benefit my technique. It can also get to the point where I forget what question was asked, so keeping my answer grounded ensures the interviewer can clearly understand my answer.
